What We Believe

Our Mission

Bringing people to a deeper relationship with God.

Our Vision

NO PRETENDING! We are broken people helping broken people find Jesus.

Our Five Values

Truth: The Bible is the very Word of God—active, living, and able to change lives. For that reason we teach the Word, preach the Word, share the Word and try to live out the Word of God in our talk and our actions.

Kindness: Jesus is the greatest, most complete picture of kindness we will ever know. Thankfully God didn’t treat us as we deserved (Romans 3:23). Kindness is understanding, it is compassion, and it is action-oriented. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:23)

Resilience: Growth is painful and pain is something we are conditioned to fix, instead of endure. Paul uses the word “hope” three times in Romans 5:1-5. Hope is the anchor to our faith journey. We are resilient because of hope.

Growth: Jesus commissioned the Church to “make disciples” (followers). Our goal is not just about head knowledge—although important; but our ultimate goal is heart transformation. The Old Testament is the story of God saying, “Trust Me”, while the New Testament is the story of God saying, “Follow Me.” Spiritual growth means we are becoming, we are looking and acting more like Jesus.

Outreach: Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save the lost.” We believe that Christ’s command to take the good news of salvation to the world needs to be a top priority. We believe that we have been called to be the hands and feet of Jesus, to seek those who are far from God, because God loves them and wants them to come home.

Doctrine

God

We believe in one God, who exists in the perfect relationship of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit:

- The Father is the Creator of the universe and the lover of all people.

- Jesus is the fully divine Son of God. He humbled Himself to also become fully human. Through His death on the cross, he made peace between God and humanity. He rose from the dead and now reigns in heaven alongside the Father. He will return at the end of time, ushering in a perfect new creation.

- The Holy Spirit lives in those who follow Jesus. He is both a downpayment on our future hope and the one who heals our brokenness, leading us to become more like Jesus and giving us the power to be transformed.

People

All people need God: everyone is separated from God by sin and suffers from brokenness. God seeks to restore everyone through Jesus.

The Church

The Church is God’s worldwide family: all who obediently follow Jesus have become the children of God.

Baptism

Baptism by immersion is our participation in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus and an initial step in following Him.

Communion

Each Sunday, we share in the Lord’s Supper (communion). This essential part of worship looks back to Jesus’ sacrifice, looks around at His healing work in and through His people, and looks forward to His return. All who follow Him are welcome to participate.

Marriage & the Family

We believe in marriage as created by God: One man, one woman, one lifetime. Sex in that context is an amazing gift blessed by our Creator and Sustainer. Straying from that design and seeking sexual satisfaction outside of marriage dishonors God and harms human beings.

We also believe that we are created either male or female. We recognize that many struggle with their identity, including gender and sexuality. JeffStreet desires to be a community of hope and healing for all those who seek to find their identity in Jesus.
